Taking vows on the beach, Costa del Sol Wedding style

Costa del Sol Wedding style

Julie and Chris didn’t just want to get married in Spain, they didn’t just want to have their reception on the beach – they actually had their wedding ceremony on the beach. Wow, taking your vows with the waves breaking just a few metres away is quite something, and the many friends and family over from the UK must have wondered if that’s an everyday thing here. Getting married at Cortijo Los Canos, A Sotogrande Wedding

A Sotogrande Wedding – Getting married at Cortijo Los Canos

That’s what Katie and Ryan Williams did, coming down to the little town of Guadiaro on the edge of Sotogrande to wed in the sun. It was September, and perfect weather in this corner of Southern Spain, so the large group of family and friends were all in a great mood. It didn’t hurt that the wedding was held at the wonderful Cortijo Los Canos, a stylish Andalusian country house complete with shady courtyards and a first-class restaurant. Read more

On the beach…a selection of photos from weddings at El Oceano, Costa del Sol

A selection of photos from weddings at El Oceano, Costa del Sol

A sensual seaside setting is not surprisingly a much-favoured location for weddings. Let’s face it, it doesn’t get much more romantic than hearing the waves break and having an open panorama of sea, sky and distant views before you. Read more

Dream Wedding Venues on the Costa Del Sol: Tikitano

Dream Wedding Venues on the Costa Del Sol, part one: Tikitano

I have photographed at many weddings across southern Spain, but one of my favourite venues remains Tikitano. It is without a doubt one of the top dream wedding venues on the Costa Del Sol.  It’s situated roughly halfway between Estepona and San Pedro Alcantara, a little west of Marbella and Puerto Banús, right on a bend of the coast that allows you to glance all along the coastline to Gibraltar. Tikitano, getting married by the sea

Tikitano, getting married by the sea

This is the wedding of Lisa and Carl…childhood sweethearts from Wales who came to Marbella to be married in the sun. Lisa is such a kind, thoughtful lady and there was no wedding planner – she did it all herself. She certainly has organisational skills, because all went beautifully and the guests enjoyed a wonderful day on the edge of the Mediterranean. Read more

A private villa wedding in Marbella…

A private villa wedding in Marbella, Costa Del Sol, Spain

A recent event that remains strong in the memory is the wedding of Soraya and Jason. Having travelled to Marbella from Portsmouth, they brought around 80 friends and family with them from the UK and other parts of the world, and made it a day to remember.

As ever, the temperature was mild, so even in October the ladies could wear summery dresses and the party could dine outside under the palm trees in the beautiful tropical gardens of Villa El Cid in Marbella. The marquis overlooked the pool and the surroundings at Los Flamingos, near the elegant Villa Padierna Hotel and its Tuscan-style golf course. Read more

The Fiestasol and David Toms Wedding Photography touch

Stunning work by David Toms Wedding Photography

David  has been working with Heather of Fiestasol for several years now, a collaboration between wedding planner and photographer that has produced many beautiful and memorable weddings organised and catered by Heather and captured by David.   “I enjoy working with Heather,” says David. “She’s highly organised and works really hard to ensure that everything looks stunning and runs perfectly on the day.” Since Heather also caters to private villa weddings there have been some wonderful backdrops for David to work on. “Picture this: an elegant marquis set in a tropical garden by a large swimming pool as the sun sets. In the distance you can see Marbella and the coast, and everywhere there are pretty lights and people having fun. There’s so much to work with.”

Costa del Sol wedding photography by the lake

Costa del Sol wedding photography by the lake

Picture this: a September wedding on the shores of Lake Viñuela, with the terraced hills of the Axarquia region rising up in the distance. Around 150 guests from Ireland had gathered in this beautiful part of Andalucía, midway between Marbella and Granada. This rural area near the foothills of the Sierra Nevada proved to be a fairytale setting for a wedding. The sun poured a soft golden hue on everything, making my job so much easier, since photography really is just painting with light.

Bride and bridesmaids

As a photographer, I had all the things you could wish for: a beautiful bride, a happy groom, proud parents, pretty bridesmaids and a cheeky group of friends. In all, it made for a perfect mix and a perfect day that offered many wonderful moments to capture.

The wedding ceremony, at a pretty church in the whitewashed village of Frigiliana, provided an atmospheric backdrop that we made the most of before moving on to the beautiful venue on the edge of the lake. Archway

Here I stood back and let the evening play itself out, catching the emotion and the movement of the couple and their friends and family. Lorraine Romain of Princess Bride had done a wonderful job with makeup for the wedding and Scott Gibbons of Sunshine Weddings Spain once again did us all proud with an evening organised to perfection. In short, it was one of those weddings that stays in the memory for a long time. for financing options check out no collateral required

Here’s what the couple themselves say: ”One of the most important things about your wedding day is having a great photographer and you couldn’t get any better than David Toms! On the day he was so enthusiastic and professional, he knew exactly what shots he wanted and he used humour to make us and our guests feel at ease. We could see how good David was at his job but we were still amazed at how beautiful our photos turned out. We have shots that were set up and look so creative they could be from an editorial magazine, mixed with beautiful, natural shots of our friends and family taken when they didn’t even know he was there. It was the best day of our lives and it was over much too quickly but now, thanks to David, we have these amazing photos that will last forever.” Orla and Liam
