A Sotogrande Wedding – Getting married at Cortijo Los Canos
That’s what Katie and Ryan Williams did, coming down to the little town of Guadiaro on the edge of Sotogrande to wed in the sun. It was September, and perfect weather in this corner of Southern Spain, so the large group of family and friends were all in a great mood. It didn’t hurt that the wedding was held at the wonderful Cortijo Los Canos, a stylish Andalusian country house complete with shady courtyards and a first-class restaurant.
It’s a romantic setting and one that’s perfectly configured to host a wedding. Located on the outskirts of this typical Spanish village it has a real country feel, looking out over lovely green surroundings. Also, it’s just about a kilometre or two from the beaches and the marina of Sotogrande, so it’s got the whole mix.
Joanne McCafferty of Marbella Marriages had it spot on with the organisation, and everything look good enough to eat – which much of it was. Joanne’s husband is Martin Joseph, who is Frank Sinatra in the Rat Pack show, so she has the entertainment side of things pretty well sewn up too.
The newly married couple were very photogenic and natural, and their friends reflected their happiness, so my job was easy. Well, I say easy, I still had to corral large groups of people and make sure I captured all the best moments without getting in the way of their enjoyment, but it went very well and it was a pleasure to be among this group of happy people.
