An Andalusian wedding with a touch of Polynesia

Picture a beautiful day in Southern Spain; perfect temperatures, blissful sunshine and a blue sky that bodes well for a very special moment in the lives of Zara and William. Having travelled from County Donegal in Ireland with their friends and family – and no doubt left the wind and rain behind – arriving in Marbella basking in the sun must have set the tone for a wonderful time.

For the wedding ceremony they had chosen the charming Nuestra Senora de los Remedios in Estepona’s lovely old town centre. With this sweet venue they got a wonderful priest to perform the ceremony. Clearly a people’s person, he even hugged the couple halfway through the ceremony.

Zara and William are a great couple. She’s lovely and he’s easy-going and calm – a real life fisherman from Ireland! They had done much of the organising themselves, but with a bit of help from yours truly sorting out some bits and bobs for them everything worked out perfectly.

The beautiful bride and her man were a pleasure to work with, as were the cheerful Irish guests that ventured on with them to Tikitano. As evening fell at this wonderful venue on the water’s edge, the light cast the coastline in a wonderful spell. The Polynesian touches of Tikitano added an exotic, tropical touch that was a perfect addition to a Spanish day and a gorgeous Andalusian wedding.

With such a setting and such a good-looking and well-natured couple to work with the images almost made themselves. The setting certainly helped to inspire me, and I’m pleased that Zara and William felt the same way.

From the bride:

“Me and William want to thank you for everything you did before and during the wedding. First of all, thank you for being so helpful to us when we were out in February. You helped us find the best suppliers in the business and we’re so thankful for that as they helped make our day so perfect.

On the day of the wedding what can I say, you were amazing. Every part of the day was so relaxed as I spent most of the time laughing at you. You helped keep me calm when you could see I was getting stressed, you were so professional it never felt staged at all. Everything was so relaxed and natural, and you can really see that through our photos you captured the day perfectly. I am so glad you were available to photograph our wedding day as I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else. All our family enjoyed your company as well. Everyone loved how fun but also professional you were to be around.”

Dream Wedding Venues on the Costa Del Sol: Tikitano

Dream Wedding Venues on the Costa Del Sol, part one: Tikitano

I have photographed at many weddings across southern Spain, but one of my favourite venues remains Tikitano. It is without a doubt one of the top dream wedding venues on the Costa Del Sol.  It’s situated roughly halfway between Estepona and San Pedro Alcantara, a little west of Marbella and Puerto Banús, right on a bend of the coast that allows you to glance all along the coastline to Gibraltar. Tikitano, getting married by the sea

This is the wedding of Lisa and Carl…childhood sweethearts from Wales who came to Marbella to be married in the sun. Lisa is such a kind, thoughtful lady and there was no wedding planner – she did it all herself. She certainly has organisational skills, because all went beautifully and the guests enjoyed a wonderful day on the edge of the Mediterranean. Read more
