An Andalusian wedding with a touch of Polynesia

Picture a beautiful day in Southern Spain; perfect temperatures, blissful sunshine and a blue sky that bodes well for a very special moment in the lives of Zara and William. Having travelled from County Donegal in Ireland with their friends and family – and no doubt left the wind and rain behind – arriving in Marbella basking in the sun must have set the tone for a wonderful time.

For the wedding ceremony they had chosen the charming Nuestra Senora de los Remedios in Estepona’s lovely old town centre. With this sweet venue they got a wonderful priest to perform the ceremony. Clearly a people’s person, he even hugged the couple halfway through the ceremony.

Zara and William are a great couple. She’s lovely and he’s easy-going and calm – a real life fisherman from Ireland! They had done much of the organising themselves, but with a bit of help from yours truly sorting out some bits and bobs for them everything worked out perfectly.

The beautiful bride and her man were a pleasure to work with, as were the cheerful Irish guests that ventured on with them to Tikitano. As evening fell at this wonderful venue on the water’s edge, the light cast the coastline in a wonderful spell. The Polynesian touches of Tikitano added an exotic, tropical touch that was a perfect addition to a Spanish day and a gorgeous Andalusian wedding.

With such a setting and such a good-looking and well-natured couple to work with the images almost made themselves. The setting certainly helped to inspire me, and I’m pleased that Zara and William felt the same way.

From the bride:

“Me and William want to thank you for everything you did before and during the wedding. First of all, thank you for being so helpful to us when we were out in February. You helped us find the best suppliers in the business and we’re so thankful for that as they helped make our day so perfect.

On the day of the wedding what can I say, you were amazing. Every part of the day was so relaxed as I spent most of the time laughing at you. You helped keep me calm when you could see I was getting stressed, you were so professional it never felt staged at all. Everything was so relaxed and natural, and you can really see that through our photos you captured the day perfectly. I am so glad you were available to photograph our wedding day as I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else. All our family enjoyed your company as well. Everyone loved how fun but also professional you were to be around.”

A Spanish summer’s fairy tale wedding

The cynics among you might say romance is gone but I know it’s alive and well. I see it at every wedding I am privileged to be a part of: romance, love and the special bond between two people and their circles of family and friends. These are the things that make the world go round, and it does me good to be a part of so many beautiful days.

Add the sunny weather and the beautiful settings to choose from and you can see why people travel from across Europe to get married in Southern Spain. Natalia and Andreas came with their loved ones from Norway to enjoy their special moment in the sun. To be fair, it was a hot summer’s day, but it all came off so beautifully that I think we all rocked.  A true fairy tale wedding! Read more

Autumn vows in southern Spain

Melanie and Rebecca chose the golden Andalusian autumn sun for their wedding. Indeed, it would have been hard to imagine a rain-soaked British October day as we basked in soft temperatures and let the joy of the day wash over us. The venue was the romantic Molino de Santillan, a rustic hotel complete with yoga and wellness centre set within beautiful scenery overlooking the Mediterranean near Vélez-Málaga. Read more

A June wedding in Nerja

What an amazing couple. Heather and Jason came over from Ireland with their friends and family to share a fantastic moment in Nerja. Unusually, for June, it was a somewhat cloudy day, but this couldn’t dampen spirits as these people love life – and each other – too much.

We may not have been able to order the sun out on the day, but everything else was picture perfect, courtesy of Jenny (www.spanishweddingplanner.com), who combines American drive and perfectionism with a lot of years’ experience planning weddings in Spain. Read more

A romance in Newcastle and getting married in Marbella

Getting Married in Marbella

I am used to dealing with happy, excited couples surrounded by their loved ones, but Rachel and Peter stole the show recently with a truly inspiring wedding held at the Don Carlos under the Marbella sun. The beautiful bride and her handsome groom were celebrating here a very special connection that had begun in England’s northeast and I was fortunate, as always, to capture their happiness. Read more

Photo session with the International Theatre School, Mijas

I have been working with Nikki, who runs the International Theatre School, for quite a few years now. She’s great fun and an inspiration for the kids she trains to dance and act to a very high standard. For some it is the beginning of a professional career, for others a great way to learn new skills they will benefit from in their working lives, and they seem to come alive when performing in the shows staged and choreographed by the school. Irish wedding bliss – Weddings on the Costa Del Sol

Weddings on the Costa del Sol – Irish wedding bliss!

September is a perfect time of year for weddings on the Costa del Sol thanks to the warm early autumn weather and that soft rich light. It was just like that for the wedding of Claire and Stephen, a very sweet Irish couple who chose the rich ambience of Casa Los Bates near Motril for their day.

Claire looked lovely and the images I got of her during the preparations were full of feeling and atmosphere. The people who travelled with them were great fun and so was the team assembled by Moira of Perfect Spanish Weddings. Under her knowing guidance everything was on time and as it should be, contributing to a picture perfect day. Read more

La Sala venues Marbella – Photography by David Toms

The stunning La Sala Venues Marbella

In my work I pretty much cover all the top places along Marbella and the Costa del Sol, many of which range from enchanting to fantastic. Among the best are the La Sala venues created by Ian Radford and his team. They’ve done a fantastic job because each location is very distinct yet carries that unmistakable La Sala touch that shows itself in the luxurious décor, the great menu and the slick service. Stunning Wedding Photography in Marbella

What a wedding! The bride plays in the West End production of Shrek and many of her friends and family are in show business too, so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised to hear them all singing and laughing as they were getting ready. What’s more, they were really good, so it sounded amazing. Then came the crunch moment as a song pre-recorded by the lovely bride was played as a surprise for the groom when she walked down the aisle. It had the desired effect – and everybody was full of emotion, I can tell you. Read more
