Picture this: a September wedding on the shores of Lake Viñuela, with the terraced hills of the Axarquia region rising up in the distance. Around 150 guests from Ireland had gathered in this beautiful part of Andalucía, midway between Marbella and Granada.
This rural area near the foothills of the Sierra Nevada proved to be a fairytale setting for a wedding. The sun poured a soft golden hue on everything, making my job so much easier, since photography really is just painting with light.
As a photographer, I had all the things you could wish for: a beautiful bride, a happy groom, proud parents, pretty bridesmaids and a cheeky group of friends. In all, it made for a perfect mix and a perfect day that offered many wonderful moments to capture.
The wedding ceremony, at a pretty church in the whitewashed village of Frigiliana, provided an atmospheric backdrop that we made the most of before moving on to the beautiful venue on the edge of the lake.
Here I stood back and let the evening play itself out, catching the emotion and the movement of the couple and their friends and family. Lorraine Romain of Princess Bride had done a wonderful job with makeup for the wedding and Scott Gibbons of Sunshine Weddings Spain once again did us all proud with an evening organised to perfection. In short, it was one of those weddings that stays in the memory for a long time.
