Weddings Photography Costa del Sol, SpainDavid Toms learnt his trade the traditional way through lots of hard work and hours spent in the dark room supporting some of the world's top photographers. Initially, David worked with Roy Snell, learning everything there is to know about black and white photography, and developing a style and technique that has won much recognition, as well as an afap award Now working in the Marbella area, he applies this experience and professionalism to his wedding photography, creating high quality images and photo books that make the most of the scenic backdrop and rich lighting. In this, his ability to 'capture the moment' is as important as his people skills and the way he fades into the background and records the special events of the day as they happen naturally. "Technical skill and creativity are a given," says David, "such as employing artistic touches like soft focus to convey a particular ambience or mood. But to create wedding photography that is truly special you have to be the kind of person who gets on with people, makes them feel at ease and then stands back and captures those moments, gestures and glances that not only look good, but that encapsulate the feelings of those involved." Formal shots are naturally a part of the process too, but here again David uses a very flexible approach that is geared towards a polished product. "The day isn't about me, so I impose my presence as little as possible and keep posed shots to a minimum before letting people get on with the celebrations. In the end it is all about getting the best out of people, encouraging them when they are shy and above all, allowing them to enjoy themselves as if you weren't even there. The end result is so much the better for it." Click here to see a video of one of our weddings
